About Us

The European Union Reference Laboratory for Chemical Elements in Food of Animal Origin (EU-RL CEFAO) is hosted by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Public Health. The EU-RL CEFAO is responsible for the residues listed in the Annex I, Group B3(c) in the Council Directive 96/23/EC of 29 April 1996, that is Chemical Elements in Food of Animal Origin.
