LIFE-EDESIA Layman's Report

LIFE-EDESIA develops the application of the substitution principle to known EDCs - such as phthalates (e.g., DEHP) and bisphenols (e.g., BPA) already classified as "Substances of Very High Concern" (SVHC) according to the art. 57f of the REACH Regulation - or to suspected EDCs - such as parabens. To achieve its purpose, LIFE-EDESIA builds an integrated and tiered in silico-in vitro approach; the general goal is to demonstrate a new, robust and cost-effective no animal strategy to evaluate suitable chemicals for replacing EDCs classified as or suspected to be SVHC.

Potential substitutive chemicals are screened and prioritized in comparison with the target EDC on the basis of their: i) less hazardous properties to human health and ii) similar industrial performances, thus...

Proceedings of the Summer School in silico methods for food safety, 13-15 giugno 2017 - Parma, Italy

The Parma Summer School, organized by University of Parma, University “Sacro Cuore” of Piacenza and EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority in Parma, will take place June, 13th-15th, 2017 in Parma, Italy.
The event is mainly devoted to young people, Ph.D. students, post doc, young researchers who want to learn something about computational techniques and in vitro techniques applied to food science.
In silico techniques are emerging techniques in food science; we can learn from Medicinal Chemistry or Computational Chemistry how to use methods and related software to predict interactions between “good” or “bad” food molecules to important receptors, e.g. Nuclear Receptors.
The school is thought for young researchers, it is a “no fees school”...

Parma Summer School in silico methods for food safety - June, 13-15th, 2017 - Parma

Dear Colleague, on behalf of the scientific committee of the school, it is a pleasure to invite You to participate to this event.
This event is mainly devoted to young people, Ph.D. students, post doc, young researchers who want to learn something about computational techniques and in vitro techniques applied to food science.
