Back Press Release No. 47/2022 COVID-19: Main Monitoring Data from the Control Room

Here are the main data provided by the Control Room:

  • Nationwide there was an increase in the incidence of cases: 763 per 100,000 inhabitants (24/06/2022 - 30/06/2022) vs. 504 per 100,000 inhabitants (17/06/2022 - 23/06/2022).
  • In the period 7 June - 20 June 2022, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.30 (range 1.06-1.56), an increase compared to the previous week and above the epidemic threshold. The transmissibility index based on hospitalized cases increased and was above the epidemic threshold: Rt = 1.22 (1.18-1.26) as at 06/20/2022 vs. Rt = 1.16 ( 1.11-1.21) as at 14/06/2022.
  • The number of occupied Intensive care beds rose to 2.6% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 30 June) from 2.2% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 23 June). The number of occupied beds in other medical wards at national level rose to 10.3% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 30 June) from 7.9% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 23 June).
  • No Region/PPAA was classified as being at low risk. 13 Regions/PPAAs were classified as being at moderate risk pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020 (3 of them having a high probability of progression), while 8 Regions/PPAAs were classified as being at high risk due to the presence of multiple resilience alerts; 3 of them having a high probability of progression.
  • Twenty Regions/PPAAs reported at least one resilience alert. Eight Regions/PPAAs reported multiple resilience alerts.
  • The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing remained stable (9% vs. 9% last week). The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms was also substantially stable (44% vs. 45%), as was the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (47% vs 47%).
