Child health and environment pollution

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS,  the Italian National Institute of Health) has a cross-departmental structure to promote and protect children's health from environmental pollution through the enhancement and integration of the Institute’s expertise ranging from the definition of exposure scenarios, to mutagenesis studies, teratogenesis, and environmental carcinogens, to studies on metabolic activity, immune and inflammatory response, pre and post-natal development, surveillance and epidemiological research on non-communicable diseases, congenital malformations, and tumors.

The structure also aims to create national networks, promoting training activities and preparing consensus, address and guidance documents on the topic of environmental pollution and child health, including information and communication aspects.
