Back Corpuscle Land

Corpuscle Land (Globulandia) is a museum exhibit in which a sensory adventure-path leads visitors to the discovery of blood, stimulating the learning of notions of biology and of the history of medicine, promoting a conscious choice towards blood donation, as an indicator of health and of an extraordinary habit. The aim of the project is to create a synergy between the exhibit and visitors, to develop a strong association between the flow of blood in veins and the blood that heals (donated and transfused), in order to build a proactive culture of informed and responsible donations, also in relation to healthy lifestyles.

Exhibition
‘Globulandia. Un’avventura in rosso’ (Corpuscle Land: An Adventure in Red), an educational scientific exhibition sponsored by the Ministry of Health, in conjunction with the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena, is a path toward the discovery of blood. Blood is thoroughly explored through the lens of culture, history and science, within the broader context of healthy lifestyle choices, but without neglecting the charm and fun that every journey brings with it. The exhibition is the result of a joint effort that started in 2011 involving the National Blood Centre (CNS), the WHO Healthy Cities national network and the Milan Polytechnic, under the supervision of the Italian Society of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology.
To monitor their students’ awareness of issues related to health, lifestyle and propension to solidarity, CNS and Observa Science in Society developed a questionnaire which was administered to teachers during the visit. The exhibition material is currently in storage at Modena City Hall but can be moved to a different location (either temporarily or permanently).

This traveling exhibition toured from 2012 to 2017 and can still be replicated.
It was previously displayed in Modena, Genoa, Padua, Massa, Milan, Pietrasanta, Turin, Udine, Foggia, Rome, Brescianello, Bari.

ISS researchers are once again available to give presentations on this project.
