Back #unitedagainstSTDs, to prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases

The event was designed to reflect on the importance of preventing Sexually Transmitted Diseases among young people. The aim was to promote a fruitful interaction between STD experts, teachers, students and public figures. By implementing innovative techniques they were able to identifying a common language that helped them translate scientific data into a clear, intelligible, and unequivocal message to protect sexual health. The event was part of a Project known as “A Roadmap for STD Diagnosis and Care: Identifying Critical Issues and Inadequacies in the Current System; Operational Proposals for Local Implementation of Appropriate Diagnostic and Care Approaches”. The project was funded by the Health Ministry. 

Target: upper secondary school students. 
Products: paper, digital, and multimedia material. 

Event
This one-day event dedicated to upper secondary school students was aimed at explaining what STDs are in a simple and straightforward language, also describing possible prevention tools and who to contact to find out how to deal with this issue. Together, several experts, an actor and an illustrator translated scientific data into a clear and simple message to protect sexual health for participating students. The event took place on 20 February 2019. Materials are still available. ISS researchers are available to give presentations on this project in schools.
