Gender-specific toxicology

The toxicological risk assessment allows deriving guidance values for the protection of human health, through the study of exposure and effects of chemical substances. Gender-specific toxicology carries out applied and translational research by in vitro and in vivo studies, as well as on human population, with the aim to identify sex and gender-based differences to chemicals exposure.

For this purpose, it deals with the identification of mechanisms of action/interaction at tissue, cell and genomic level, the characterization of biomarkers of effect and the association between exposure and related pathologies.
