Mechanisms underlying tumors and hematological diseases

The development of tumors and leukemias is based on the uncontrolled growth of their cells.

All cells have complex signal networks which, for example, regulate their ability to proliferate or even survive or not. Very often these control systems are altered in tumors.

Identifying the points where these signal pathways are altered allows us to study a way to act specifically on cancer cells with drugs that are called "molecular targets". Numerous drugs of this type have entered the therapy of tumors and leukemias and many others are in development to increase the effectiveness of therapies and reduce side effects.
