Back CS N ° 45/2020 - School: ISS-Ministry of Education Distance Learning for COVID contacts is underway. A registration fee reserved for free choice pediatricians and general practitioners

ISS, 1 September 2020 - A training course for teachers, school staff and health professionals to monitor and manage possible cases of COVID19 in schools.

This is an initiative organized through the collaboration between the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) and the Ministry of Education, and created to assist schools in the implementation of the "Operational guidance for the management of SARS-CoV-2 cases and outbreaks in schools and kindergartens". 

The technical document was developed by ISS with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, INAIL, the Bruno Kessler Foundation, the Veneto Region and the Emilia Romagna Region, approved in the Unified State-Regions Conference.

The objective of the training course, which will take place online, is to provide operational support to decision makers and workers in the school sector and in the Prevention Departments who are fully involved in the monitoring and response to suspected and / or confirmed cases of COVID. -19, as well as in implementing prevention strategies at the community level.

The training is offered through two free courses that will be available until December 15, 2020, usable on the EDUISS platform and which can accommodate up to 70 thousand participants, with the possibility of extension.

The first course for school and educational staff is reserved for school professionals designated to play the role of COVID-19 school contact. Participants who have completed all the planned activities and passed the multiple-choice final evaluation will receive a certificate of participation.

The second ECM course for health professionals is reserved for the staff of the Prevention Departments (DdP) in charge of carrying out the function of COVID-19 contact for the school environment. The course can also be accessed by General Practitioners (GPs), Pediatricians of Free Choice (PLS) as well as members of the Special Continuity Care Units (USCA) who wish to be trained on operational guidance for the management of SARS-CoV-2 cases and outbreaks in schools and kindergartens, given their strategic role in diagnostic-assistance paths. The course is accredited for the following professionals: Surgeons (all ECM disciplines), health assistants, biologists, psychologists, prevention technicians in the environment and in the workplace, nurses, and pediatric nurses.

The teaching method used is active and is based on the principles of problem-based learning (PBL), in which individual participants are engaged by defining their own learning objectives and solving a problem, inspired by their own professional context. The training will be carried out entirely remotely, in asynchronous mode.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to use the information learned to prepare, monitor and respond to potential cases or outbreaks of COVID-19 connected to the school and kindergarten by adopting rational, shared and consistent methods used throughout the national territory.

The estimated time for completing each Course is 9 hours and provides for the release of 11.7 ECM credits: participants will be able to freely access the EDUISS Platform within 24 hours, upon registration and registration to the Course.
