Since several years, the Department of Food safety, nutrition and veterinary public health of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the National Institute of Health in Italy) has been organizing seminars for internal staff, with the aim of sharing the results of both the scientific and institutional activities. This initiative has been promoted and organized with the collaboration of the “Training” and “Communication” working teams of the Department. It is important to underline that the seminars have involved both permanent and not permanent staff of the Department, in particular PhD students, who, by illustrating their research experiences and the results achieved, put forward interesting ideas for debate and discussion. Herein, some of the contributions to the seminars are reported and they represent an example of active training and professional communication between the staff, and well describe the variety of research and institutional activities carried out by the Department.
