The procedures of Interventional Radiology underwent a rapid development in the last 25 years, with a wide diffusion on the national territory, representing one of the most critical scenarios with regard to radiation protection due to their intrinsic high exposure values. Therefore, these procedures must be strictly regulated through a continuous update of the documents on radiation protection of patients and operators, also for taking into account the law’s updates. In particular, the recent release of ICRP 135 and the transposition of Euratom Directive 13/59 through DL.vo 101/20 made essential the update of the document Rapporti ISTISAN 15/41. Therefore, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and the Istituto Nazionale per l’Assicurazione contro gli Incidenti sul Lavoro, together with the Study Group for Quality Assurance in Interventional Radiology updated the above-mentioned document working with a multidisciplinary approach with the active participation of all professional and scientific components directly involved.
