ISSalute (link to the Italian website) is an innovative portal created by the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS). It was created in 2017 by prof. Walter Ricciardi, ISS President in those years, in collaboration with Sir Muir Gray, professor of Knowledge Management at the University of Oxford and creator of the NHS Choices website. Currently the portal is managed by the Coordination Committee in close collaboration with the current ISS President, prof. Silvio Brusaferro.

ISSalute was created to offer citizens updated, independent and certified information on lifestyles, nutrition, the environment and diseases and the ailments they cause, the causes that determine them and the treatments available using a simple and comprehensible language to everyone, regardless of the level of education and competence in technical-scientific subjects.

Furthermore, to dispel many "hoaxes" and false myths circulating on the subject of health, in a special section that is continuously updated, misleading information is collected, accompanied by scientific explanations that demonstrate its groundlessness.

All the contents published on ISSalute have been created by the Editorial Board, composed of ISS researchers and technicians, and have been evaluated and approved by the Scientific Committee, made up of Senior investigators belonging to the Departments and Centers of the ISS, in collaboration with selected experts both inside the ISS and outside.
