Special issue. ISS for COVID-19
This special issue of Notiziario dell’Istituto Superiore di Sanità is entirely dedicated to the activities carried out by the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) on the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic since the beginning of emergence to the date of publication of this issue. The ISS President, member of the National Technical Scientific Committee (established with Decree of the Head of the Civil Protection Department no. 371 of February 5, 2020), set up 22 Working Groups to respond to the health risks associated with the COVID-19 infection. They are formed by experts of the Institute and of other important institutions. The results of the Working Groups activities - that cover major research, surveillance, training, information and communication issues - provide the Italian Government with technical-scientific information and data useful to guide public health actions, and inform healthcare operators and stakeholders.
