The role of inflammation in oncology: the course of the A_IATRIS Association
Inflammation studies are playing an increasingly central role in oncology. New tumor targeted drugs enhance the patient's immune system. On the other hand, chronic inflammation can help tumor growth. The development of new diagnostic and prognostic strategies that identify new biomarkers able to distinguish tumor progression from response to therapy is therefore crucial. In this context, the Association A_IATRIS organised the course "Biomarkers and diagnostic imaging techniques in the evaluation of inflammation in oncology" held in Rome last February and which will see a second edition next February in Aviano.

Cancer stem cells: a red thread through research, clinics and health
Cancer stem cells are found in many tumors and are characterized by an extreme plasticity and therapy resistance, being responsible for tumor recurrence many years after diagnosis. A common thread links cancer stem cells with patients surviving after a diagnosis of cancer, who represent a continuously increasing part of the population and require dedicated strategies in order to prevent disease recurrence. Research on cancer stem cells and development of new strategies to prevent cancer recurrence are primary goals to improve the future of public health.

The MA.NU.AL. Project - Nutrition and Eating Disorders: the map of Italian centers dedicated to the treatment in support of the key actions of the Ministry of Health
In 2018, the National Centre for Disease Prevention and Control - CCM of the Ministry of Health funded the Project "Nutrition and Eating Disorders: the map of Italian centers dedicated to the treatment in support of the key actions of the Ministry of Health - MA.NU.AL.". The MA.NU.AL. Project is coordinated by the National Centre on Addiction and Doping of the Italian National Institute of Health in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Regions and with the contribution of experts from the main specific scientific societies and associations. The Project is of fundamental importance for the continuation, consolidation, integration and implementation of a formal national mapping of public and contracted structures dedicated to eating disorders, with a constant and periodic update, in order to guarantee the people affected by these pathologies, their families and the various health workers to whom these subjects refer, the best levels of access and appropriateness of the intervention. The article introduces the Project and summarizes the objectives and the main operational stages planned for the next two years of work.
