In 2015, the National Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health promoted the “National Fertility Study”, entrusting its coordination to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the National Institute of Health in Italy) and involving Sapienza University of Rome, the International Evangelical Hospital of Genoa and the University of Bologna. The aim was to collect information about knowledge, attitude and practice in sexual and reproductive health to plan interventions to support fertility in Italy. This report presents the results of the five surveys carried out in 2017 and 2018 which included more than 50,000 adolescents, university students and adults of childbearing age, and more than 3,000 health professionals (paediatricians, primary care physicians, gynaecologists, andrologists, endocrinologists, urologists and midwives).
