Growth hormone related diseases

Growth Hormone (GH) is used in the treatment of pathologies with total or partial deficiency of GH in both children and adults, as well as pathologies with normal secretion.

These are diseases with different etiology that require chronic treatment, sometimes even for a lifetime.

GH therapy has a strong economic impact both for the cost of the drug and for the long duration of the therapy. There is also the risk of improper use in healthy subjects to improve sports performance.

GH therapy therefore requires national pharmaco-surveillance which the Italian Medicines Agency has appointed the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) with the National Register of Growth Hormone Assumers (RNAOC).
