Gambling disorder is a persistent, or recurring, problematic behavior related to gambling that leads to clinically significant discomfort or impairment, classified since 2013 as a behavioral addiction.

To counter this phenomenon in its complexity and multidimensionality, the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) carries out studies based on scientific evidence, promotes monitoring systems and proposes training and information interventions.

It also facilitates the meeting between the demand of citizens and the offer of care services and resources in the territory concerning debt-related issues, and through counseling interventions proposed by the Help line on the problems of gambling - 800 558822.
