Back ECDC and Africa CDC to share experiences in 3-day meeting on surveillance, data management and epidemic intelligence

A four-year capacity and partnership building project entitled ‘EU for health security in Africa: ECDC 4 Africa CDC’ has been in implementation since January 2021, with the financial assistance of European Development Fund by the European Commission DG for International Partnerships (INTPA). This project aims to strengthen Africa CDC capacities in preparedness and response to health threats, facilitate harmonised surveillance and disease intelligence of prioritised outbreak-prone communicable diseases at continental level, and support the implementation of Africa CDC’s public health workforce development strategy.

To facilitate more efficient exchange of experiences between technical experts of ECDC and Africa CDC, a three-day face-to-face meeting will be held at the ECDC premises between 30 May and 1 of June. The overall purpose of the visit is to finalise the actions of the inception phase and the workplan for the implementation of activities concerning surveillance, data management and sharing, and epidemic intelligence.
