Physical activity

Regular physical activity is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle and is a valid ally of psychophysical well-being: at any age, regular exercise, even moderate, has many beneficial effects on the body, proving to be important for prevention and therapy for many pathologies.

However, a sedentary lifestyle, is a public health problem, with a high burden of disease and related social costs. Promoting physical activity is a priority public health action.

To this end, the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) collaborates with Regions, Local Health Authorities (ASL), scientific associations and organizations through specific projects to promote healthy choices in the health and non-health sector.
