Clinical governance, National guidelines system (SNLG) and HTA
Law no. 24/2017 on professional responsibility has entrusted a fundamental role to the guidelines (LG), giving the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), through the National Center for Clinical Excellence, Quality and Safety of Care (CNEC), the role of methodological guarantor and national governance of the LG production process of good quality.
It is informed by the best available evidence of the country's health needs on the basis of criteria of relevance and clinical, economic and social impact.
In the new regulatory context, the SNLG therefore constitutes the institutional access point to the guidelines for clinical practice or for public health choices developed for the National Health Service (SSN) and for decision-makers, professionals and patients.
