Early life exposure and future health: the role of life course epidemiology and birth cohorts

Research into the origins of disease, known as “Developmental Origins of Health and Disease” (DOHaD), focuses on the link between early exposures and future health. This approach revealed that the environment and nutrition could influence fetal and infant development and affect future health, also through epigenetic modifications. Birth cohorts, such as Piccolipiù and MUBICOS, study individuals from birth allowing us to deepen the link between early experiences and future health, contributing to a healthier population through targeted prevention interventions.

First Meeting on Zebrafish and One Health in Rome - National Institute of Health in Italy
Human, animal and environmental health are the key components of the international approach One Health. The Zebrafish model, now widely used in numerous research studies, has been the main subject of the meeting between experts belonging to the main national university and public institutions, which took place on 24th July 2023 in Rome at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Institute of Health in Italy). The aim of Zeb-One meeting has been the establishment of a network of laboratories that use zebrafish in the different expertise areas through a One-Health vision, for the submissions of projects, validation of new methods and drafting of guidelines.

Workshop. Dialogue between gender budgeting and medicine of differences: organizational changes and enforceability of changes
Gender budgeting is an important public governance tool that can be used to assess the impact of budget on gender equality. Gender budgeting can be applied to any type of budget system and to all levels of government (central and local). The workshop "Dialogue between gender budgeting and gender medicine: a response between organizational changes and the need for changes" organized by the Center for Gender Medicine (MeGe) and the Guarantee Committee (CUG) of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Institute of Health in Italy) was an opportunity to analyze the correlation between the right to gender health and the effectiveness of this right subordinated to the financial factor.
