Back Press Release No. 66/2022 - COVID-19: Main Monitoring Data from the Control Room:

These are the main data provided by the Control Room:

●   There was a nationwide increase in the weekly incidence of cases: 325 per 100.000 inhabitants (23/09/2022 -29/09/2022) vs. 215 per 100.000 inhabitants (16/09/2022 -22/09/2022).

●   In the period 7 September – 20 September 2022, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.00 (range 0.86-1.26), an increase compared to the previous week and equivalent to the threshold value. Also the transmissibility index based on hospitalized cases increased but was in any case below the epidemic threshold: Rt = 0.95 (0.90-1.00) as at 20/09/2022 vs. Rt = 0.87 (0.82-0.91) as at 13/09/2022.

●    The number of occupied beds in Intensive Care Units remained stable at 1.4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 29 September) vs. 1.4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 22 September). The number of occupied beds in other medical wards at national level rose to 6.0% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 22 September) vs. 5.3% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 22 September).

●     Five Regions/PPAAs were classified as being at high risk for the presence of multiple resilience alerts, in pursuance of the MD of 30 April 2020, the remaining 16 were classified as being at moderate risk. Fourteen Regions/PPAAs reported at least one resilience alert. Five Regions reported multiple resilience alerts.

●     The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing remained stable compared to the previous week (11% vs. 11%). There was a slight increase in the percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms (54% vs. 53%), whereas there was a slight decrease in the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (35% vs. 36%).
