April is Alcohol Awareness Month: an important opportunity to update your knowledge about alcohol use disorder (AUD) and the adverse impact of alcohol abuse on health and society (individuals, families, and communities). Every years, alcohol misuse is responsible for thousands of deaths and traffic crashes.
This month of April is dedicated to increasing public understanding and awareness of alcohol abuse, including its causes, effective treatment, and recovery.
This initiative is a prime opportunity to decrease stigmas associated with alcohol abuse and decrease misunderstandings. Thus, we can remove those barriers that make people fear seeking treatment and recovery.
Many healthy living organizations and local agencies host events and campaigns during this month-long event.
