Cosmetics
The CNSC, assess the risks and safety of cosmetic products and active ingredients (substances) in relation to the exposure scenarios and specific uses upon request of the the national competent authority, the Ministry of Health - Department of Planning and Organization of the S.S.N. - General Directorate for Medical Devices of the Pharmaceutical Service and Safety of Care Office VIII, and of the other administrations and bodies involved [Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Local Health Units, Carabinieri Anti-sophistication and Health Units (NAS), Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza), Offices of Maritime, Air and Border Health (USMAF-SANS)]. Furthermore, the CNSC, upon request of the Ministry of Health, evaluates the Product Information File (PIF), and the Opinion of the Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety.
The analytical controls are planned by the Ministry of Health, the NAS, the Guardia di Finanza, and other bodies in charge also following specific warnings including any adverse events related to the use of a product. The CNSC is involved when the review analysis is required at the ISS.
