The use of medicines within  the elderly population in Italy. National Report. Year 2019
Italy is among the oldest countries in the world, and the over-65s are responsible  for about 70% of drug consumption. For this reason, from the collaboration between the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS - the National Institute of Health in Italy and the Italian Medicines Agency, the first National Report on the Use of Medicines in the Elderly Population in Italy was born, which considers different care settings. In 2019, 98% of the elderly received at least one pharmaceutical prescription and such consumption increases with age. Considering that in an elderly person various conditions requiring different treatments may coexist, with the increased risk of adverse events, the Report also analyses pharmaceutical deprescription and drug consumption in nursing homes (RSAs).

The new ISS network for the Global Burden of Disease
The current version of Global Burden of Disease (GBD) was created in 2007 with the establishment of the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (University of Washington, Seattle). Its goal is to quantify the health loss caused by 369 diseases and risk factors for more than 200 countries, with annual online publication of the estimates. The GBD engages more than 5000 experts from over 150 countries. The active participation of Italian researchers led to the establishment of the Italian GBD Network, that involves researchers from 25 research institutes. Among these is the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS - the National Institute of Health, where the professionals involved have established a dedicated working group.

How professionally exposed workers feel about radiation hazard: the results from a European survey
It is increasingly recognized that stakeholder views can be essential in establishing the credibility of those entrusted with protection of the public and workers against radiation risks, the robustness of the approaches to protection and the relevance of research underpinning radiation protection. The European Joint Programme CONCERT for the Integration of Radiation Protection Research, ended in 2020, included consideration of stakeholder views, coordinated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS. The survey has received a total of 1961 answers from several European countries. In this article it is possible to find an insight of the analysis that has been carried out by only selecting the category of professionally exposed workers.

Constrasting health inequalities in Europe: JAHEE's recommendations at the conclusion of the Project
JAHEE, Joint Action Health Equity Europe, is a project funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (24 participating European countries; duration 2018-2021). Set up with the aim of helping to reduce health inequalities both within and between European countries, recognizing this as a public health problem responsible for a significant percentage of avoidable mortality and morbidity. JAHEE contributed to create a solid base of cooperation between countries involved, in order to contrast health inequalities in an effective and sustainable way, and to provide evidence on what needs to be done for this purpose in different political context. The 10 final Recommendations of JAHEE are reported.
