The recovery and supply service of WHO documents is offered by the ISS Library to both internal and external users through the Loans and Consultation Section. The Library offers support to the users in bibliographic research, directing them to the most appropriate information sources for specific documentation needs.
In the catalog of the Library of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, it is possible to identify the WHO documents owned by the WHO Documentation Center.
The requested and available documents are usually sent free of charge, in the original format or in copy, in accordance with what has been agreed with the World Health Organization.
Many documents published by WHO are available free of charge online in full text (in PDF format) and can be identified through the IRIS catalog on the WHO website.

The WHO Documentation Center has always given value to the translations of WHO documents as they are numerous but often difficult to find due to lack information, in the catalogs and databases in use. Even before it was reported in the WHO IRIS catalog, the WHO Documentation Center at the ISS had carried out a survey of existing publications on the national territory by creating a database.
Currently the main source of information on translations of WHO documents is the IRIS catalogue.
