Cyanobacteria in water for human consumption: State of knowledge for risk assessment. Volume 1.
Edited by Luca Lucentini and Massimo Ottaviani for “National Group for cyanobacteria risk management in water for human consumption”
2011, xxii, 165 p. (in Italian)
This volume reports the state of knowledge on risk assessment on cyanobacteria and their toxins in water intended for human consumption. Specific tools are provided to define the probability of occurrence and the estimation of the potential impact of the phenomenon of massive contamination of cyanobacteria in reservoirs for the production of drinking water. Based on the scientific data and technical knowledge reported in the volume, the essential elements for structuring of the monitoring plans and measures for prevention and mitigation of risk throughout the drinking water supply chain are established. The legal framework on cyanobacteria impact is discussed, with the definition of national reference values for cyanotoxins in water intended for human consumption under DL.vo 31/2001 and subsequent amendments. The document is coordinated with the report Rapporti ISTISAN 11/35 Pt. 2, concerning the definition of guidelines for the cyanobacteria risk management in water for human consumption. This volume contains the Preface and the Presentation common to both parts as well as the details of the publication plan.
