Parent training and Prader-Willi Syndrome: analysis of a training experience.

The report provides a description of a training Course “Seminars on parent training for Prader-Willi Syndrome”, organized by National Centre for Rare Diseases of Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Health Institute in Italy), in collaboration with Federazione Nazionale Sindrome di Prader-Willi (National Federation for Prader-Willi Syndrome in Italy) in 2008-2009. The course involved the parents of children with Prader-Willi Syndrome in order to improve their knowledge on the disease, enhancing their ability and competence in managing their children. In particular, the report describes the various steps to realize the course: program definition, parents’ selection, trainers’ selection, who conducts the parent training and the evaluation family burden and the evaluation of the efficacy of parent training methodology.
