To prevent foodborne illness, a pilot projet was proposed and carried out by the Italian National Institute of Health to spread out specific information expecially among the individuals and small communities. Schematic information about some preventive behaviours to buy, storage and prepare foods are reported. In the appendix, some tables contain technical information about foods involved in foodborne illness, their incubation period, the main symptoms, etiology and specific prevention. The basic information on foodborne diseases will be very useful for operators in local information services.
