Psychological well-being and quality of life

Psychological well-being is a dynamic condition that affects multiple aspects of life.

The Istituto Superiore di Santà (ISS, the National Health Institute in Italy) promotes studies aimed at assessing the well-being of individuals in different ages and contexts.

Genetic predisposition and individual long-life experiences cooperate in structuring fragile or resilient individuals, that is, capable of dealing with multiple or chronic adverse conditions.

The ability to cope with adverse conditions is also studied as a risk factor for psychopathology and in order to highlight the underlying mechanisms for the promotion of mental health and prevention of mental disorders.
