The National Register of Growth Hormone therapy (Registro Nazionale degli Assuntori dell’Ormone della Crescita-RNAOC) has been assigned to the National Institute of Health in order to perform the national pharmacosurveillance on the use of Growth Hormone (GH) therapy. The RNAOC has been included in the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of March 3rd 2017, which identifies national and regional surveillance systems and registries to perform epidemiological surveillance on treatments and diseases relevant in public health. The Note #39 by the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), regulating the reimbursement of GH therapy, has also required the computerization of the register and an annual reporting. The RNAOC relies on a web platform that enables online reporting of GH-prescription therapy by the regional recognised Centres of 15 regions and 2 autonomous provinces and on the other regional independent GH-database transmitted to the national database. As the last years, this volume represents the annual report of RNAOC, collecting the activities of RNAOC including the analysis of data by 2018 and a survey on the regional modalities for the authorization of Centres specialized in GH therapy. The activities of the regional GH-commissions are reported in terms of their authorization and evaluation prerogatives.
