Sponsorship was introduced to the public Administration in the 1998 financial law as a useful tool to secure additional financial resources <…> to improve the quality of services and limit expenses <…>
. This concept was reaffirmed in the 2000 financial law (art. 30, Law 488/1999). Sponsoring is one out of the several tools for social marketing in health. Humanisation of hospital care, especially in terms of improvement of infrastructure and services delivered, is one of the main objectives of the National Health Plan. Financial support is needed for reaching this goal: health services can benefit from extra-funds made available from other sectors, integrating the National Health Fund. Communication and social marketing strategies were discussed during the Conference.
