The available data on the communication of the diagnosis of dementia in Italy is limited and those devoted specifically to the attitudes of clinicians emerged about ten years ago. This study was designed to describe the prevailing practices of communication of the diagnosis in a clinical sample of Italian and practices of obtaining informed consent to treatment and clinical trials in patients with dementia. In particular, the objective is to describe the main attitudes of specialists towards communication of diagnosis of Alzheimer, their opinions on the effects of the communication to the patient, the reasons for or against a direct communication.
