Clinical audit on evaluation indicators in radiotherapy for different pathologies.

In the framework of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the Italian National Institute of Health) project of evaluation indicators in radiotherapy one of the working groups, in which 30 radiotherapy centres together with their health physics units were represented, defined outcome, process and structure indicators for seven pathologies: gynaecological and breast tumours, bone metastases, lung, prostate, rectum and head-neck tumours. For each pathology a set of 6-7 indicators has been defined. Indicators data were collected in a number of centres from 8 to 16. The indicators check-lists and the first comparative analysis of indicators values are reported. The modifications that were suggested by this pilot audit are discussed.
