Wednesday 17 September 2025 marks the sixth annual World Patient Safety Day. It is a campaign that encourages all healthcare stakeholders to collaborate and commit to improving patient safety. This year is focused on the theme Safe care for every newborn and every child. Providing safe care for patients is a crucial priority, yet newborns and children continue to be especially vulnerable to patient safety hazards.
With the annual slogan Patient safety from the start!, the World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for urgent action to eliminate avoidable harm in paediatric and newborn care.
World Patient Safety Day calls on all countries and international partners to join forces and take collective action to advance patient safety globally.
