Organization and functioning of the Departments of Mental Health in the pandemic and post-pandemic context
The SentiMENT project monitored mental health services in Italy by conducting two surveys, one during the pandemic period in 2021 and one after the pandemic period in 2023. The first survey revealed that the pandemic had exacerbated the fragility of the mental health network, resulting in increased hospitalizations and remote interventions, as well as reduced in-person visits. The second survey showed that mental health services were structurally stable but highlighted critical issues regarding the availability of certain professionals, such as social workers and psychiatric rehabilitation technicians. There was also a decrease in specialist visits and an increase in hospitalizations and Emergency Room visits. As part of the project, training courses in epidemiology and health surveillance were provided and pilot studies were developed for educational purposes.

Revision of the CLP Regulation: some relevant aspects introduced by Regulation (EU) 2024/2865. Part one: Labelling requirements
The Regulation (EU) 2024/2865 introduces significant amendments on CLP Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. The aim of the revision is to adapt the CLP to technological and social changes, improve the protection of people health and environment and implement risk management of chemical substances. The revision enhances hazard communication by establishing new roles on legibility (minimum font size, line-spacing and colour), extended use of fold-out labels and the introduction of the voluntary digital labelling. Furthermore, the revision deals with problems on products safety sold to the consumers at refill stations and online sales; establishes roles for products sold in bulk to consumers (e.g. fuels) and sets new deadlines for updating labels. The Regulation applies since December 10th, 2024.

Meeting for families of people affected by prion diseases. From research to care
Prion diseases are rare, incurable and fatal neurodegenerative diseases which have a devastating impact on patients and their families. The National Registry of Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease and related syndromes of the ISS, which has been involved in the surveillance of prion diseases and research into the diagnosis and treatment of prion encephalopathies since 1993, also provides support to the families of people affected by these diseases. The annual conference of the Italian Association of Prion Encephalopathies Onlus (AIEnP), founded in 2007 by relatives of people affected by prion disease, was an important opportunity for discussion between patients' families and ISS researchers who deal with these diseases.
