April 2026 - World Health Day 2026

On April 7, World Health Day is celebrated worldwide, marking the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948. The 2026 edition focuses on the theme “Together for health. Stand with science,” a global call to strengthen the role of science in protecting public health.

The campaign, promoted by the WHO, highlights the importance of scientific collaboration and the use of evidence-based data to address today’s major health challenges. The goal is to turn scientific knowledge into concrete action through effective policies and international cooperation.

One of the key elements of the 2026 edition is the One Health approach, which emphasizes the interconnection between human, animal, plant, and environmental health. In this context, the day also marks the launch of a year-long campaign aimed at promoting the value of scientific research and global networks in disease prevention and health promotion.

At the international level, the observance is accompanied by high-level events, including scientific forums and global health summits that bring together institutions and research centers from different countries.

In Italy, the Ministry of Health also takes part in the day by promoting initiatives and informational content aimed at spreading a culture of prevention based on scientific evidence and best healthcare practices.

World Health Day therefore represents an important opportunity to reaffirm that science and international cooperation are essential tools for building more equitable and resilient health systems, capable of responding to current and future global challenges.
