BBMRI, ECRIN AND EATRIS join forces in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

In the unprecedented public health crisis that is being experienced, Europe needs a coordinated effort of all available knowledge and resources to fight the pandemic.

ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) believes that the opportunities provided by European Research Infrastructures to support science in the current emergency are extremely important.

To this end, BBMRI, ECRIN and EATRIS have joined forces in the Alliance of Biomedical Research Infrastructures (AMRI) to enable researchers to access the academic facilities, services and resources of the three Infrastructures through a coordinated and accelerated procedure.

The full catalog of AMRI resources is available to the community involved in COVID-19 research at the following link: https://eatris.eu/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/AMRI_COVID-19_Fast_Response_Service.pdf.

ESFRI is helping the scientific community by aggregating information on the dedicated services offered by the Research Infrastructures and communicating all relevant actions as widely as possible. To this end, ESFRI has created a regularly updated web page that provides quick links to the information collected(https://www.esfri.eu/covid-19).

COVID-19 Data Portal

On April 20, 2020, the COVID-19 data portal was launched with the aim of bringing together and sharing datasets in order to understand the disease and accelerate coronavirus research.

To address this challenge, EMBL-EBI and its partners manage the Portal by bringing together relevant datasets and subsequently allowing researchers to access and analyse specialist data as part of the wider European data platform for COVID-19.

The ISS – with the Director of the National Centre for Innovative Technologies in Public Health and the Director of the Technical-scientific service of Research coordination and support – participates in the national coordination and contact group, together with the Italian representative of the EOSC Governing Board and the technical manager of the Italian node of ELIXIR.
