Long-CoViD

Back Good clinical pratices for the clinical management of patients with Long-CoViD

Health systems have been challenged to respond to the presence of a new clinical condition, called Long-CoViD, with the need to provide multidisciplinary care to a large number of patients presenting with an extreme clinical heterogeneity.

Specialized clinics for individuals with Long-CoViD have arisen in Italy to respond to the increasing need for supportive care but service organization for the management of this condition and the mode of service delivery are heterogeneous, with wide regional differences in terms of numbers and characteristics of referral centers for the diagnosis and care of the condition.

Professionals from different disciplines (including general practitioners, specialists in respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, internal medicine, geriatrics, cardiology, neurology, paediatrics, and odontostomatology) were invited to participate, together with a patient representative, in a multidisciplinary panel appointed to draft good practices on clinical management of Long-CoViD in order to provide guidance and improve quality of care.
