The importance and potential of TVF are demonstrated by two decrees:

  • Decree of 25 October 2012 of the Ministry of Health, which provides that the number 800.554088 appears in rotation on the labeling of tobacco products
  • Legislative Decree no. 6 of 12 January 2016, which states that the toll-free number must be shown on all packs of cigarettes and tobacco products. It is aimed in particular at smokers to support them in the process of quitting smoking and directing them to the Anti-Smoking Centers, but also to their family members, to those seeking information on protection from passive smoking or to former smokers to support them in moments at risk of relapse

By calling TVF anonymously, a team of experts and psychologists, through the methodology of reactive telephone counseling, will support you, agreeing together on a schedule of telephone meetings, in the cessation process, facilitating the activation of your personal, family and social resources. The TVF Service also offers you a cessation program through the proactive telephone counseling methodology: a recall activity in which the consultant - in compliance with the legislation on data processing and in compliance with privacy - contacts the smoker on the basis of a appointments agreed with the user. The telephone counseling sessions will be agreed from time to time and the user will be followed by the same consultant throughout the course. The course is divided into 5 re-contacts on average, with a maximum of 8, over a period of 5 weeks. The protocol is an adaptation of the methodology suggested by the World Health Organization and combines elements of problem solving and coping strategies with elements of emotional and motivational support.
