Back Release N°70/2021 Covid-19: the main monitoring data from the Situation Room

ISS, December 10th 2021 - 

The following are the main data issuing from the Situation Room: 
●    The weekly incidence at national level is rising steeply: 241 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (10/12/2021 –16/12/2021) vs 176 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (03/12/2021-09/12/2021), data flow of the Ministry of Health.
●    In the period from 24 November – 7 December 2021, the median Rt calculated on asymptomatic cases was equal to 1.13 (range 1,09 – 1,19), slightly lower than the previous week but above the epidemic threshold.  The transmissibility index based on the number of hospitalizations is stable albeit still above the epidemic threshold (Rt = 1.09 (1.06-1.14) at 7/12/2021 vs Rt = 1.07 (1.03-1.11) at 29/11/2021).
●    The Intensive Care Unit occupancy rate is at 9.6% (data collected daily by the Ministry of Health on 16 December) vs 8.5% (data collected daily by the Ministry of Health on 09 December). The medical ward occupancy rate at national level grows to 12.1% (data collected daily by the Ministry of Health on 16 December) vs 10.6% (data collected daily by the Ministry of Health on 09 December).
●    1 Region/AP (Autonomous Province) is classified as a high risk, 18 Regions/PAs are classified as a moderate risk. Among these, three Regions/PAs are highly likely to progress to a high risk status according to the Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020, while it was impossible to evaluate the progression for one Region. Two Regions/PAs are classified as a low risk. 
●    13 Regions/PAs report a resilience alert. One Region/PA reports numerous resilience alerts.  
●    A steep rise is recorded in the number of new cases not linkable to transmission chains (42,675 vs 37,278 of the preceding week). The percentage of cases tracked though contact tracing systems is decreasing (31% vs 34% the preceding week). The percentage of cases found through the onset of symptoms is on the rise (43% vs 40%), while the number of cases diagnosed through screening activities is stable (26% vs 26%).
