Climate change

Climate change affects health determinants such as air quality, the health of ecosystems, drinking water safety and the availability of food. Pathologies and deaths caused by the rise in temperature, extreme events, altered and / or polluted ecosystems represent significant problems in economic terms and for the health of the population.

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS, the National Institute of Health in Italy) is at the forefront of research and mitigation of the risks associated with climate change, and with the Rome Charter on Health and Climate Change, signed by about 500 people from 27 countries on the occasion of 1st International Symposium on Health and Climate Change, and provides decision-makers with evidence and recommendations to face the threat of climate change.
