Context

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is an international body established in Paris on December 14, 1960. Its activity began on 30 September 1961, upon the signature of the Convention of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with the aim to take the place of the previous European Organization for Economic Co-operation, born in 1948, whose main goal  was the postwar economic reconstruction.

Italy ranks among the 20 Funder Countries.

Today, 38 Member States participate in the OCSE activities together with non-Member States representatives, and with some other international organizations as ILO - International Labour Organization, FAO - Food and Agriculture Organization, IMF - International Monetary Fund, WB – World Bank and IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency. The Member States are committed to democracy and to a market economy. Their objectives are to support and develop economy and employment, increase trade at global level and foster cooperation with non-member countries through assets employment and technological and scientific support for the economic and social development and prosperity of the population.

Decisions taken by the OCSE Working Parties are bound to be appointed as the theoretical assumption for the new laws and good practices, both at Member States and global level. For, the activities carried out within OCSE set up the ground for  economic, scientific, technological and political issues.
Since over 30 years, Istituto Superiore di Sanità bears the coordination activity thanks to the Head of Delegation at the Chemical and Biotechnological Committee of the Environment, Health and Safety Programme and coordinates the Test Guidelines Programme at national level.
