European Union Reference Laboratory for Escherichia coli

Annual Workshops

The workshops of the EURL-VTEC are held annually, with the participation of representatives from the NRLs of the European countries and from the reference laboratories for E. coli in third countries. The workshops aim at facilitating the relationships between the NRLs and discussing:  

  • the main issues related with STEC infections in Europe and worldwide
  • the methods for the detection of STEC in food  
  • the results of the inter-laboratory comparison studies organized by the EURL-VTEC and the planning of the forthcoming exercises 
  • the ongoing initiatives at EU and worldwide level on food safety and on molecular typing of STEC  
  • other scientific breakthroughs on STEC from speakers invited and selected on the basis of the latest scientific literature available
