Use of anticoagulant rodenticides in Italy: risk mitigation measures and best practice codes.
Renato Cabella, Guido Bellomo, Maristella Rubbiani
2015, ii, 42 p. (in Italian)

The European assessment of active substances and risk assessment, conducted for the authorization of individual products has shown that, the use of rodenticides (products intended to kill rats and mice/voles) containing active substances inhibiting blood coagulation, involves considerable risks regarding the environment, the human and animal health and a potential development of resistance. This is why, also in Italy, conditions of use have been established in the context of the product authorization procedure on the basis of EU legal provisions in order to mitigate the above-mentioned risks. Such risk-mitigation measures consist in restricting the category of users, packaging size and establishing a best practice code for the application of anticoagulant rodenticides.
