4th National Congress. Mycotoxins in agri-food chain. Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Rome, June 11-13 2012. Proceedings.
Edited by Carlo Brera, Barbara De Santis, Francesca Debegnach, Emanuela Gregori, Elena Pannunzi and Maria Cristina Barea Toscan
2013, vi, 172 p. (in Italian)

The 4th edition of the National Congress on Mycotoxins in Food Chain aims to deal with three main issues related to the impact of these toxic compounds in animal and human health. The first issue regards a topic still deeply underestimated and related to the relationship between human and animal pathologies and mycotoxin intake with diet. The second issue is mainly focused on the risk management of the mycotoxin threat along the whole agri-food chain through a detailed analysis of agronomic risks and preventive and corrective actions to be undertaken to minimize the presence of mycotoxins in crops. The third issue will give the opportunity to the speakers to present an updated information on the new diagnostic scenarios and on the possible developments of new diagnostic platforms aimed at a faster and faster and reliable analytical response to be used both in official control and in own-check activities. Since 2004 the National Congress has been held at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the Italian National Institute of Health) with a two-year frequency. This scientific event is an opportunity of debate for researchers and stakeholders on the impact of mycotoxins on economics, agriculture, industry, safety and legislation.
