OneHealthSecure project: operational workshop in Serbia to strengthen the One Health surveillance to arboviral diseases

From 13 to 15 July 2026, the Institute of Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanović Batut" hosted the Operational Workshop on Reinforcing the Multisectoral One Health Approach to Surveillance, Prevention and Control of Endemic Arboviruses in Serbia, organised within the framework of the EU-funded project OneHealthSecure.

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), who leads the public health expertise of the OneHealthSecure project, supported the organization of the workshop and will contribute by sharing its experience in integrated surveillance and the application of the One Health approach to endemic and emerging arboviruses, together with the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Abruzzo e del Molise (IZSAM), who leads the veterinary health expertise of the OneHealthSecure project.

The workshop brought together representatives of the Serbian health, veterinary and environmental authorities, institutes and research organisations to strengthen multisectoral collaboration for the surveillance, prevention and control of arboviral diseases. The programme includes an assessment of the current epidemiological situation in Serbia, the identification of priorities for strengthening surveillance and preparedness, and the development of a multisectoral operational roadmap for coordinated action.

The initiative contributes to the objectives of OneHealthSecure by supporting partner countries in strengthening preparedness and response capacities against arboviruses through integrated surveillance, intersectoral collaboration and the implementation of the One Health approach.
