Back Press Release No. 67/2022 Covid-19: Main Monitoring Data from the Control Room

  • There was a nationwide increase in the weekly incidence of cases: 441 per 100,000 inhabitants (30/09/2022 - 06/10/2022) vs. 325 per 100,000 inhabitants (23/09/2022 - 29/09/2022)
  • In the period 14 September - 27 September 2022, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.18 (range 0.98 - 1.52), an increase compared to the previous week and above the threshold value. Also the transmissibility index, based on hospitalized cases, increased and was above the epidemic threshold: Rt = 1.28 (1.23-1.32) as at 09/27/2022 vs. Rt = 0.95 (0.90-1.00) as at 09/20/2022.
  • The number of occupied Intensive Care beds rose to 1.8% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 06 October) from 1.4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 29 September). The number of occupied beds in other medical wards at national level rose to 8.2% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 06 October) from 6.0% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 22 September).

  • Six Regions/PPAAs were classified as being at high risk due to the presence of multiple resilience alerts, one Region could not be evaluated but its status was comparable to the high risk status, pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020; the remaining 14 Regions were classified as being at moderate risk. All Regions/PPAAs reported at least one resilience alert. Seven Regions/PPAAs reported multiple resilience alerts.
  • The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing was stable compared to the previous week (12% vs. 11%). The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms was also stable (53% vs. 54%), as was the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (35% vs. 35%).
