Back Press Release No. 71/2022 Covid-19: main monitoring data from the Control Room

Here are the main data provided by the Control Room:

• There was a nationwide drop in the weekly incidence of cases: 448 per 100,000 inhabitants (14/10/2022 - 20/10/2022) vs. 504 per 100,000 inhabitants (07/10/2022 -13/10/2022)

• In the period 28 September - 11 October 2022, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.27 (range 1.19-1.39), therefore stable compared to the previous week and above the threshold value. The transmissibility index based on hospitalized cases decreased slightly, but was still above the epidemic threshold: Rt = 1.09 (1.06-1.13) as at 11/10/2022 vs. Rt = 1.20 ( 1.17-1.24) as at 04/10/2022.

• The number of occupied beds in Intensive Care Units remained unchanged, namely 2.4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 20 October) and 2.4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 13 October). According to the daily survey by the Ministry of Health, the number of occupied beds in other medical wards rose to 11.0%, as at 20 October, from 10.0% as at 13 October.

• Three Regions/PPAAs were classified as being at high risk due to the presence of multiple resilience alerts, pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020; sixteen Regions were classified as being at moderate risk and two at low risk. Ten Regions/PPAAs reported at least one resilience alert. Three Regions/PPAAs reported multiple resilience alerts.

• The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing was stable compared to the previous week (10.5% vs. 11%). The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms was also stable (54.7% vs. 54%), as was the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (35% vs. 35%).
