The Italian Ministry of Health appointed the Chemical Safety of Foods Unit as National Reference Laboratory for feed additives, together with the Reference Center for the surveillance and control of feedingstuffs for animals (C.Re.A.A.).
Expertise areas and activities of ISS and C.Re.A.A. have been defined on the basis of the list of additives contained in EC Regulation No. 1831/2003. The tasks of the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) are defined by the European Union Regulation 625/2017, Article 101.
